Do I have to pass the ITV if I want to install a ball/hitch in my vehicle?
Indeed, but only the ITV of the hitch, the vehicle is a different thing, the installation of a ball / hitch in a vehicle is considered a major reform and therefore has to pass the ITV, (which consists of a minimum check of the hitch and electrical kit) once installed the hitch we will give you a documentation for them to certify and include the hitch and its characteristics in the technical data sheet of your vehicle.
Can I install the ball/hitch myself?
No, it can and should only be done by a workshop that is authorized by the Ministry of Industry, as it requires an installation certificate stamped by a workshop with a registration number to avoid any problem in the ITV and it is advisable to do it in a workshop recommended by the manufacturer as they always mount couplings from the same manufacturer and are much more familiar with the installation than any other workshop and that can save you some trouble, besides that the advice is more complete.
Can I change a ball/hitch from one car to another of the same model and year?
No, each hitch is assigned to a chassis number and the manufacturer only issues one certificate for each ball/hitch.
